Founded in 2014, the Windburn Multi-Sport Academy provides a fun, friendly and competitive atmosphere for athletes in a multi-sport environment. Windburn Multi-Sport Academy has two training groups“Windburn Race Team”and“Windburn DEVO team”. Training focuses on swim, bike and run, as well as combinations of these sports.
Training also emphasizes building core strength. Athletes focusing on other sports (e.g., hockey, volleyball, basketball, water polo) also benefit from cross training in this environment. Benefits include but are not limited to improved endurance, muscle balance and injury prevention.
Windburn Multi-Sport Academy introduced the DEVO (Development) team to bridge the gap between the youth and young adult races. The DEVO team provides a fun, friendly and competitive atmosphere for athletes aged 10-15 in a multi-sport environment. Training focuses on swim, bike, run, transitions , and the proper skill development required in each discipline.
Training also emphasizes building core strength. Athletes focusing on other sports (e.g., hockey, volleyball, basketball, water polo) also benefit from cross training in this environment. Benefits include but are not limited to improved endurance, muscle balance and injury prevention.
The Windburn Race Team is a competitive-based triathlon team in Manitoba comprised of athletes training for various competitions including Canada Games, Continental Cup and Elite Races, Age Group World Championships, 70.3 and Ironman.
The growing team currently consists of over thirty highly competitive athletes.
The team trains together 8-20 hours per week.
Are designed and implemented by Head Coach, Dave Lipchen.
Coaching expertise includes: Manta Swim Team, MB Cycling, U of M Bison’s Track Team and Peacock Endurance Project.
